Celebrating the joy of craft breweries is practically a pastime for Bethany Blues of Lewes, and they will be doing it again on April 25th at 6PM with a four course meal and beer pairing featuring Firestone Walker Brewing Company. The co-owned brewing company is based out of California and is owned by two brothers-in-law who both admit to possessing the characteristic of being headstrong. The result is strong beer that matches their own tenacity.

Joining in the proverbial battle, is Bethany Blues of Lewes, bringing to the table a meal that will satisfy the palate and complement the beer. “The beer pairing dinners are always really fun because the atmosphere is less formal, but the food is elevated!” Says Nicole Giannella, Catering Manager/Pastry Chef for the Lewes location. 

These pairing dinners have become a staple at Bethany Blues of Lewes because it gives the chefs the opportunity to share their elevated barbecue concepts while introducing customers to a variety of beers, all in one meal. “It’s really fun to get such a wide introduction to a particular brand in one sitting,” Giannella says. 

With the Spring in the air, the menu reflects the season and the beer complements accordingly. The dinner begins with fried goat cheese with tarragon and honey, paired with a lager, and moves to a baked flounder accompanied by hollandaise drenched mashed potatoes with an IPA. The main course is hearty beef braised short ribs and cauliflower, with a Union Jack IPA, and to finish, a panna cotta complete with fresh strawberry and rhubarb compote is paired with a rose. 

From beginning to end, this is one of the best beer dinners of the season, and one that has a wide appeal.
