SAGAMORE SPIRIT DINNER ON JAN 28TH

Sagamore Spirits from Baltimore, Maryland is known for their high quality rye whiskey and for the last two years, they have been partnering with Bethany Blues of Lewes in a variety of ways. From signature barrel selections to creative cocktails and pairing dinners, Sagamore’s whiskey is a natural complement to the mouthwatering barbecue that Blues brings to the table.

On January 28th at 6PM, Bethany Blues is bringing another stellar pairing dinner to kick off the new decade. “The cocktails that bartender Ryan Minnick has come up with using Sagamore are going to be amazing,” says Nicole Giannella, Bethany Blues Catering Manager/Pastry Chef. These dinners have become highly popular with Blues’ customers. They are well rounded and offer everything from social atmosphere to drinks as well as a full dinner with dessert.

Minnick explains his philosophy on crafting cocktails, “I love doing new takes on old classics. And I’m always looking to expand people’s palettes.” To these ends, he has put together drinks using the Sagamore Whiskeys that combine familiar themes and newer elements.

The evening will feature four cocktails, carefully crafted to complement the meal, but also to stand out against the backdrop of the cuisine, beginning with a mojito that features the rye whiskey. The second drink, The Prospector, is the award winning concoction from the “Sagamore War at the Shore” that Bethany Blues. It’s a warming cocktail that marries pecan-vanilla bitters, Grand Marnier, and orange. The evening will conclude with a drink called “Old Fashioned Suspenders” which pairs cold brewed coffee, Sagamore Double Oak, and vanilla bitters. And in true Blues’ fashion, all of the Sagamore Whiskey varieties will be available for sampling upon request.

To complement Minnick’s mixology, the kitchen at Blues will be cranking out four courses of delicious dishes starting with an amuse buche of grape and ricotta drizzled in balsamic on a crostini. The salad course will be a panzanella, and the main course an oven roasted salmon, and the meal concludes with a rich chocolate espresso banana trifle. “This is a meal that has a broad appeal, and also allows the Sagamore Spirit cocktails to be in focus.” Says Giannella.

In addition, Sagamore will be raffling off trips to the distillery as well as a gift basket. This is one night at Blues that you won’t want to miss out on.
